What is an Active Environment?
Active Environment are spaces and places that encourage and enable people to be active. They are not just focused on delivering opportunities for sport and formal exercise. They seek to encourage all physical activity – such as active travel, children’s play, outdoor leisure and anything else that maximises opportunities for people to be active, as well as sport and exercise. By providing opportunities for physical activity, an Active Environment can help improve the physical and mental health of adults and children.
We believe that everyone should be able to access and enjoy an active environment regardless of their gender, race, disability, background, or circumstances.
