Active Hyndburn Awards
The Active Hyndburn Awards 2026 will celebrate the people, clubs, schools, volunteers and partners who make a real difference to sport, physical activity and wellbeing across our borough. These awards recognise dedication, achievement and the inspiring stories that help keep Hyndburn active.
From grassroots volunteers and community champions to talented athletes and inclusive programmes, the Active Hyndburn Awards shine a spotlight on those who go above and beyond to create opportunities, break down barriers and encourage healthier, happier lifestyles.

AWARD CATEGORIES

Club of the Year
This award is given to a thriving organisation who have showcased that they are proactive and well-governed, working hard to retain and attract new participants. Shown great impact within their community to help encourage more people to live active lifestyles. -
Coach of the Year
This award is made to the coach or activator who has selflessly given up their time and invested their expertise to help those interested in sport and active lifestyles to improve their skills, confidence and realise their full potential. They have acted as a role model for many and shown a real commitment to improving the ability of others, both within the activity and beyond. -
Volunteer of the Year
This award is given to a volunteer who has given up their free time to promote and support active lifestyles in a non-coaching capacity at a traditional sports club. Please note this category is open to all ages. -
Changing Lifestyle Award
This award is for a person who has used sport or physical activity to transform their lifestyle for the better. Their achievements will have also inspired others to make positive lifestyle changes.

Sports Achiever of the Year
This award is for the most talented sports performers in Hyndburn, who show exceptional dedication to their sport and have already performed, or show the potential to perform at the highest level. Please note this category is open to all ages. -
Lifetime Achievement Award
This award is for an individual who has shown a consistent lifetime commitment (20+ years) and/or have made a major contribution to community sport and active lifestyles within Hyndburn. -
Active Education Award
This award is given to an education provider that has gone above and beyond to support physical and mental health through sport and physical activity, providing varying opportunities for everyone to access provision, regardless of their ability. -
Inspire Award (donated by Anne Ellwood, Olympic Torchbearer)
This award will be presented to an individual or group that goes the extra mile within their community by supporting others to participate in physical activity, providing innovative opportunities that make a difference. They will be able to demonstrate how they have helped to encourage more people to live active lifestyles.

The Active Hyndburn Awards are a chance to shine a spotlight on the inspiring individuals, clubs, schools, and community groups who help make Hyndburn a healthier, more active place to live. Whether it’s dedicated volunteers, exceptional athletes, or innovative schools promoting wellbeing, this is the opportunity to celebrate those who go above and beyond.
The nomination process for the 2026 Active Hyndburn Awards has now closed.
