Nominations Open for the Active Hyndburn Awards 2026
Celebrating Community Sporting Excellence
The much-anticipated Active Hyndburn Awards 2026 are officially open for nominations! This prestigious event, which honours outstanding contributions to sport and physical activity across the borough, will take place at Accrington Town Hall on Friday 5th June 2026.
The Active Hyndburn Awards are a chance to shine a spotlight on the inspiring individuals, clubs, schools, and community groups who help make Hyndburn a healthier, more active place to live. Whether it’s dedicated volunteers, exceptional athletes, or innovative schools promoting wellbeing, this is the opportunity to celebrate those who go above and beyond.
We are now inviting nominations across the following categories:
- Club of the Year
Awarded to a thriving grassroots club demonstrating strong governance, volunteer engagement, and pathways into coaching or performance. - Coach of the Year
Celebrating a coach who has selflessly committed time and expertise to help others grow in skill, confidence, and sporting potential. - Volunteer of the Year
Recognising an individual of any age who has made a positive difference by promoting sport or active lifestyles in a non-coaching role. - Sports Achiever of the Year
For a standout sports performer of any age who has shown dedication and potential to compete at the highest level. - Lifetime Achievement Award
Honouring an individual with over 20 years of exceptional service and impact within community sport or active living. - Active Education Award
Presented to an education provider that prioritises physical and mental health through inclusive sport and activity opportunities. - Inspire Award (donated by Anne Ellwood, Olympic Torchbearer)
This award is for an individual or group that goes the extra mile to support community participation in physical activity through innovative and impactful approaches. - Changing Lifestyle Award
Recognising someone who has significantly improved their life through sport or physical activity, inspiring others along the way.
How to Nominate
Nominations are now open, and we encourage everyone across Hyndburn to take part in recognising local heroes. Whether you’re involved in a local club, know an inspiring coach, or simply want to thank someone who has made a difference, submit your nomination today.
Cllr Kimberley Whitehead, Cabinet Member for Sport at Hyndburn Borough Council, said: “The Active Hyndburn Awards are a fantastic opportunity to recognise the dedication, passion and hard work of the individuals and organisations who make such a positive difference across our borough. Sport and physical activity play a vital role in bringing our communities together and improving health and wellbeing, and I would encourage everyone to put forward a nomination to help us celebrate the very best of Hyndburn.”
