Hyndburn Leisure is thrilled to announce an exciting opportunity for community involvement! We’re preparing a £250,000 bid to the National Lottery Heritage Fund, and if successful, this funding will be dedicated to transforming Mercer Hall into a vibrant, community-led space where local groups and businesses can bring their ideas to life.
For over a century, Mercer Hall has been a beloved gathering place in the heart of Great Harwood. Originally housing the town’s dance hall, this new repurposing project aims to honor the building’s rich history and adapt it into a space that offers fresh opportunities and experiences for generations to come.
We Want to Hear from You!
If our bid is successful, part of the funding will be distributed through a community grant scheme, helping local groups, to bring community ideas to life. So, what would you love to see happen in Mercer Hall? From baby boogie classes and book clubs to yoga sessions, history groups, or live music events – this is your chance to dream big! We invite all passionate not-for-profit community groups to share their vision for this iconic building.
For ideas on what’s possible, take a look at Stretford Public Hall and The Grand at Clitheroe. Both have transformed into thriving, community-led centers.
Submit your ideas for the two-year program of activities at Mercer Hall by completing a short online survey.
Together, let’s shape a community-inspired program that invites residents to learn, share, and grow.
