Welcome to Clayton Community Centre

Over the last year, Clayton Community Centre has gone from being council-owned to being part of the Hyndburn Leisure family. With investments into the Centre, improving lives in Clayton-le-Moors as well as the surrounding area.
Clayton Community Centre has received more than £250k in funding, thanks to significant investment secured from applications to Sport England (£50k), Lancashire Environment Fund (£30k), and the Community Ownership Fund (over £185k).

With lots of friendly faces to welcome you into our centre, Clayton Community Centre also has a cafe & rooms to hire for all community events. Home to Clayton Amateur boxing club – visit their website for more information on their sessions.

Interested in volunteer and giving back to your community.

What’s next? As a community facility, the Centre needs community engagement to see it thrive. That’s why Hyndburn Leisure is establishing a ‘Friends of Clayton Community Centre’ and are looking for a Chair, a Secretary, and a number of other roles. Why? Well, with this in place, the Centre can apply for a broader range of funding opportunities in future, and continue to provide brilliant facilities and services for you.

We’d also love local volunteers to get involved with activities and services and let us know what’s working and what’s not – then we can keep offering what our community wants and needs.

Keeping it in the community

At Hyndburn Leisure, our top priority is to improve lives and wellbeing. Securing this new funding means we can make real change happen for Clayton-le-Moors, helping people come together, develop healthy habits, and feel connected to their community.
The investment is part of a much bigger picture: the Trust’s Leisure Transformation Scheme, which will see over £13.98 million injected into improving Leisure facilities across the whole borough. In Clayton-le-Moors, local people will have access to a number of new and refurbished spaces – so individuals and groups can connect in a welcoming environment through a wide variety of positive activities.
Although owned by Hyndburn Leisure, Clayton Community Centre is still very much in the hands of its local residents – it remains a community facility, and the £250k funding is set aside solely for the Centre’s improvement.
More funding means more activities
One area already seeing positive change is Clayton Amateur Boxing Club. “Our relocation to Clayton Community Centre not only allows us to help more people,” says John Brindle, the club’s Head Coach and Secretary, “but also to expand our offering – including encouraging more girls and women to get involved with our programmes. Through investing in high-quality equipment, we’ll also be able to provide opportunities for young people and adults with disabilities or additional needs.”
