Mercer Hall successfully hosted its first public event this weekend, welcoming a boxing showcase organised by Clayton Amateur Boxing Club and marking an important milestone for the newly repurposed community venue.
The event brought together talented local boxers, supporters and members of the community, providing competitive opportunities for athletes while raising valuable funds to support Clayton Amateur Boxing Club and its ongoing work with young people locally.
Great Harwood Councillor Noordad Aziz said:
“It was fantastic to see Mercer Hall so full of energy for its first public event. The boxing showcase was a real success and demonstrated how the hall can be used to bring people together and support positive community activity.”
Jennifer Holden, Chair of the Mercer Hall Repurposing Group, added:
