Lancashire Health Week 14th May

Lancashire Health Week 14 – 18 May 2018 Health week 14-18 May 2018, our theme this year is “Your Mile, Your Way”, and we will be encouraging as many people as possible to complete a mile – whether that’s walking, running, cycling, swimming, rowing, or any other way you can think of!

There’ll be lots of ways you can join in with the Up and Active team to complete your mile, or you can simply pledge to complete your mile in your own time at our special website

Hyndburn’s Activities Friday 18th May

 10.30am Walking For Health Mile Walk. Walk led by trained leaders, suitable for all abilities, a leisurely stroll setting off from Hyndburn Leisure Centre, Henry St, Church. Ideal for first time or less mobile walkers, or for those just wanting a good walk and natter. Pushchair and dog friendly. 

11am – Outdoor green space move more today workout Join our instructor in the great outdoors green space. This exercise class will offer a healthy dose of endorphins with a side of vitamin D. What better way to enjoy the great British weather. 

12pm – 2pm – Relax with Gardening for Health and Wellbeing Switch off and relax from the pressures of everyday life! After you have completed your pots to take home, nurture and enjoy. Learn the basics of plant care and find out more about ways mile come along and plant summer salad that gardening can improve your physical and mental wellbeing. 

1.30pm Walking Football Session This session is suitable for anybody over the age of 50, so dig out your trainers and join Accrington Stanley Community Trust at Hyndburn Leisure Centre for a free taster session. Walking football is a brilliant way to exercise, create new friends and re-live those childhood memories or just to try something new. Hyndburn Leisure Centre. 

All the above activities are completely free of charge!

All Week Community Fitness Activity Mile Challenges – We will set the challenge complete your mile your way today Swimming, Rowing, Walking, Running, Exercise class or whichever way suits you! Count your steps and tell us how you have completed your Mile today. Hyndburn Leisure Centre & Mercer Hall Leisure centre. Normal charges apply

All Week Workplace Get Up & Get Active Challenges Take the Challenge – make every step count! Our Workplace Champion will set their employees the mile challenge, Get Up and Get Active throughout the day. We will provide the equipment specific for their challenge ie steps, skipping ropes, table tennis bats etc – Why not become a champion in your Workplace!
