Gym Refurbishments on the Way

Hyndburn Leisure Trust are investing over £300,000 to refurbish its gyms at Hyndburn Leisure Centre and Mercer Hall Leisure Centre.

The refurbished gyms will include the very latest Technogym range and will offer members with access to Technogym’s cloud-based technology – ‘my wellness’ which allows members to track their activity in the gym and when they’re out and about.

The refurbishments are expected to be completed in September 2018 and will feature a wide range of Technogym training stations, including; Olympic Half Racks, a large free weights area and Technogym’s cardio EXCITE range, including treadmills, varios and stair climbers.

In addition to this, both sites will include kit from Technogym’s athletic performance training range, which has been developed alongside Olympic athletes, including; Skill Mill CONNECT, Skill Row and Skill Bike and Hyndburn Leisure Centre will see the introduction of a large, functional training zone.

Linda Horsfield, Head of Health and Wellbeing said, said: “We’re proud to be entering a partnership with Technogym, one of the leading providers of fitness kit in the country. We’ll also be working with Show Off Media who will be responsible for updating the look of the gym and the studios, as well as a number of local companies including Victoria Glass, Integral Leisure Solutions, John Richmond Painter and Decorator and Scott Dawson Advertising.”

Lyndsey Sims, Chief Executive at Hyndburn Leisure, added “Earlier this year we carried out an in depth consultation with our members, ex members and also people who don’t use the gym. We asked them how we could improve the gym. We received over 200 responses and we’ve used these as the basis for our upgrade, focussing on improving the gym kit, adding a range of new functional features, free weights and traditional cardio equipment. Hyndburn Leisure offers a gym experience for everyone, and we hope that this investment we’ll attract a variety of new customers as well as rewarding our current members for their loyalty. There’ll be no price increase despite the vast improvement which will be made, and we’ll even be launching a very special offer available to new customers throughout the month of August.

Hyndburn residents have benefitted from a range of recent improvements to our leisure centres in recent years including the new Thermal Suite, Adventure City and 3G pitch at Hyndburn Leisure Centre, new features at Mercer Hall Leisure Centre including the ladies only Feelgood Suite and pool hall refurbishments at both centres.”

Joanne Mortimer, Head of Leisure Facilities said, “Encouraging an active lifestyle is vital to improving the health of the nation. Thousands of people use our leisure centres each year, but there’s still many who don’t. We are constantly upgrading our facilities and we hope that these improvements will attract a new range of customers. Our dedicated team of gym instructors, personal trainers and health and wellbeing advisors are on hand daily to provide specialist advice and guidance to new and existing customers.”

Work on the gym refurbishments is due to start in August and will take just a week to complete. For more information and joining, please call 01254 385 945.
