A statement from our CEO, Lyndsey Sims

We miss you!

The whole team at Hyndburn Leisure really look forward to welcoming our loyal customers back soon.  We hope that you’ve been keeping well and staying active during lockdown and thank you for your continued support and well wishes.

Over the past 12 weeks, Hyndburn Leisure has played a key role in supporting our local community, through setting up and managing the Hyndburn Hub.  The Hub was established to support residents who are shielding or self-isolating during lockdown and has brought together over 40 organisations and 200 volunteers.

I’m extremely proud of how local organisations and people have come together to provide essential support and practical help to those who have needed it most.  Everyone involved has played a key role in its success and together we’ve helped thousands of local people during this difficult time.

I’m particularly proud of how the team at Hyndburn Leisure have adapted so quickly to support the Hub and to help people across Hyndburn stay active and connected.  Whether that has been through reading our blog, taking part in free group exercise classes, trying out healthy recipes we’ve shared or getting active outdoors following the great gardening advice the team has provided.  Hyndburn Leisure has reached out to thousands of people during the crisis, making a big difference to many.

We’ve also invited our members to download the free Technogym My Wellness App.  The App logs your fitness data, helping you to track your fitness journey and progress. It also includes daily workouts and challenges including a monthly walk/run, challengeIt has been great to see our members take part in a digital challenge, bringing them together in a virtual space.

We are currently busy working on plans and new health and safety measures to ensure that we are ready to reopen.  We will continue to follow Public Health advice and are currently anticipating reopening from 6th July 2020.  We are keen to get back to normal as soon as possible and will ensure that the new procedures we put in place provide a safe return for all our customers and employees.

For your safety, we are planning a phased return to facilities and activities commencing with; Gym, Group Fitness classes, Feel Good and Lane Swimming at Hyndburn Leisure Centre. We will also be capping our membership levels to begin with, providing access exclusively to our Premier, Lifestyle, Feelgood & Energize members in the first instance.

The number of people using each space or attending a class at any one time will also be limited to increase social distancing, allow for new cleaning regimes to be carried out and to provide a greater overall customer experience.  All activities will be available to book in advance online or over the phone and more information will be shared with members in the near future to confirm this process.

Further updates will also be shared with our members over the coming weeks, highlighting how the facilities and activities will operate once we re-open and to let you know what we are doing to ensure that we’re providing a safe and clean environment for all

We will be contacting all our members soon to discuss your options on unfreezing your memberships or reinstating recently cancelled direct debits.  In the meantime, if you have any questions for our team please email: memberships@hyndburnleisure.co.uk

Finally, I want to thank all our loyal members for their continued support during these difficult times.  As a not-for-profit Hyndburn charity, we can only operate and continue to grow with your support.  We can’t wait to open our doors soon and look forward to welcoming customers back with a great big smile!  We also have a few surprises to make your return to Leisure even more positive!

Healthy regards,
Lyndsey Sims,
